BL1906-custom-fixings-a

In our last blog post we told you the easiest way to specify metal enclosures with custom cutouts: simply select them like products and add them to your list. Now we’ve applied the same process to fixings and inserts – making it quick and easy for you to order customised aluminum enclosures ready for your PCBs.

Specify Custom Fixings In Five Easy Steps

  • Choose your preferred enclosure model
  • Specify the individual product(s) by clicking the list icon
  • Go to the Custom Enclosures page and click on Inserts & Fixings
  • Choose your fixings – add them to your list just like products (click the list icon)
  • Email us your enquiry – we will get back to you to discuss your requirements.

Inserts And Fixings Available

Our new system enables you to specify eight different types of steel fixings and inserts quickly and easily. Studs, standoffs and self-clinch nuts are press-fitted into pre-drilled holes (cable tie mounts are push-fitted):

  • Flush head fixing studs – the embedded head is flush with the face of the panel (which is drilled to accept the stud). The head – though flush – will leave a visible circular witness on the outside of the panel. (External thread: M2, M2.5, M3, M3.5, M4, M5, M6).
  • Through standoffs – you can see through them; the head is open. (Internal thread: M2, M2.5, M3, M4, M5).
  • Blind standoffs – you can’t see through them; the head is closed. (Internal thread: M2, M2.5, M3, M4, M5).
  • Concealed head standoffs – no witness, ideal for front panels, panel thickness 1.6-2.4mm. (Internal thread: M3, M4).
  • PCB standoffs – the pre-drilled PCB clips on to the secured standoff.
  • Self-clinch nuts – internal thread: M2, M2.5, M3, M3.5, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10.
  • Right-angle panel nuts – internal thread: M3, M4.
  • Cable tie mounts – push fitted into rectangular cutouts, choose from three sizes.
